Teachers & Educators

Underlying every edition of Newspaper Fun is a strong educational framework designed to encourage reading and language skills.

The Newspaper Fun page:

  • Explores a variety of themes that are often linked to the curriculum taught in the classroom.
  • Reinforces and builds an array of language arts skills.
  • Is a lot of fun for kids - doesn't have a “workbook” style.
  • Links reading to everyday activities (e.g., a recipe book leads to baking a treat, web or book research leads to learning how to skateboard, etc.)
  • Features a cast of characters that is quirky, lively, and reflective of diverse geographic regions.
  • Gets kids to read!

The page was originally designed for newspapers, but we also offer a special subscription for teachers to provide a reliable, easy-to-use activity sheet that can complement and enliven classroom work or serve as a homework assignment.

Please check out our sample pages to see how Newspaper Fun balances its educational and entertainment values. To accommodate teacher's varying access to large-format (11" x 17") printers, we provide tips for printing an 8.5" x 14" “version as well. Click here to view these tips.

Newspaper Fun is created by Ann Mills, an award-winning writer and illustrator with a master's degree in elementary education. To learn more about Ann and her page, please click here.
